Buddleja davidii 'Nanho Blue'

A lower growing buddleja than many other varieties, and hence suitable for a smaller garden. This variety will reach a height of about 120 cm with a similar spread. This plant has been almost completely evergreen this year in my garden, the leaves having that distinctive grey green colour associated with this species. The flowers are described as pale mauve, but this misleading. In the photograph, the flowers do appear a pale purple against the vibrant background of the garnet red wall. In reality however, when viewed against a backdrop of other plants, the flowers are a deeper blue-purple colour. It flowers from July through to August and like all buddleja is popular with butterflies. Cut the plant back to with 30 cm of the ground in March to ensure good flowering in summer.
