Eryngium
planum The powdery
blue small thistle like flowers of Eryngium planum are a welcome sight
in August, rising among the flaxen plumes of stipa tenuifolia/tenuissima.
It likes an open cultivated sunny site though not too dry. This is the
first year I have tried it, so lets hope it survives the winter and self
seeds.
